Favorite Star Trek Starship
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, April 28, 2005 12:32 PM
Just curious but.... what starship from the ST universe is your favorite?
I enjoy almost any new design but , my favorite is the TMP or later versions of the Constitution class Enterprise.
The sequence from TMP showing the refit enterprise in space dock wiil stick in my mind forever. The ship was a thing of beauty and made an impression on me that will probably never be duplicated.Tongue [:P]

My favorite ship has got to be the Defiant. Just love that tought little ship with more firepower & engines than brains.

But, my favorite ship scene would have to be either the dock sequence from ST:TMP, or the battle over Cardassia.

For some reason I like the Nova class starship (the 'Equinox' and modified 'Rhode Island' from the Voyager series).

I gotta agree with kylwel. It is the Defiant hands down. As soon as I finish fixing up my Jeep, I am going to get vanity liscense plates to say DFIANT.

I have always been partial to the Nebula class from TNG. It is nearly the size and power of the Galaxy class, but less pretentious. Nebulas mean BUSINESS.

For sheer beauty and grace, the Sovereign class gets my vote.

What Matt said. Sign - Ditto [#ditto] I also love most any well thought out fan designs from the eras just before and after TOS.

And maybe Nebula as a close second.

Hi there.

This might be a big reach. Since the show violates almost every cannon in the 'ST Universe'. I could take or leave the show, but I love the NX-01.

So if this can include the 'ST Multiverse'... Enterprise NX-01. It has that old battleship scrapyard look that I really like.

Thats my My 2 cents [2c]

I don't think its a fair question! Its like asking who your favorite kid is! Tongue [:P] But here, I guess I can take my pick...

http://www.neutralzone.de/database/indexfra.htm

I would have to say the Akira and the Steamrunner. Though, something about the Saber is cool. Sovereign and Galaxy... never mind. I can't make up my mind. Banged Head [banghead]Confused [%-)]

My favorite is the Klingon Battlecruiser (D-7). It just looks like it's made for war. When I used to play Star Fleet Battles by Task Force Games I'd take the D-7 over the Federation Battlecruiser (Contitution class) anyday. Big Smile [:D]Evil [}:)]

Preach it, brother! Especially the K'Tinga, in my opinion.

A very, very close second for me is the new pattern Romulan ship from TNG. That big, glowing warbird is very cool indeed.

Nope -- it's the smaller Polar Lights kit.

I have always liked the Dreadnaught class. I like the idea of a starship that go out and put a hurtin on things without being encumbered with the mission to explore new worlds. Nobody ever dispatched the New Jersey to explore little islands of the Pacific and make friends witht he natives.

IMO it is definitely the Klingon Bird of Prey. Supposed to be a cross between a predatory bird and a football player (huge shoulders) it definitely portrays the feeling of hostility... Big Smile [:D] Even when decloaking the guns are the first to appear...

The grand gray lady of space, the Original Enterprise. And did I see a post above that says there is a 1/350 tos enterprise coming? I know about Polar Lights refit. Is that what you are thinking of? Or IS there a TOS Enterprise on the way??

I have to give a thumbs up to the D-7 and K'Tinga as well. Good, solid, no-frills look to it that meant business. My second would be the Bird of Prey, followed by the Romulan design from ST: Enterprise.

I guess I still like the old lady: NCC 1701D Galaxy Class. She's sleek and sexy, but heavily armed without looking menacing.

Ya know whats funny about that. i going to put Defiant on my truck mazda truck. I have a mirror tag with USS Enterprise and a Federation logo on front of my white and gold ford Aero Star XLT [yeah the long one]. i too now have a red jeep cherokee but I haven't decided on a tag...

Anyway back on subject tough chioces. I'll kill tow birds with one stone the Defiant rules both old and new. When I say old i refer to the TOS Defiant that was on Enterprise.
The refit E and the Sovergn [sp?] are close seconds. [JUST SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM!]

All versions of the Enterprise aside, my fave is the Ferengi D'kora class starship:

Though that ship has never been one of my favorite but as a plus it has always reminded me of the Flagship Draconia from buck Rogers the way the rear of the ship wraps around toward the bow. Not to mention the eartone color is similar.

I've never made that connection, but now that you mention it, I can certainly see it!
Any coincidence the Ferengi ship is sometimes called a Marauder, like the Draconian fighters? Hmm...

Still, the D'kora class starship is my fave.
(Well, Enterprise D is actually my favorite!)

Yeah, that is TOO BIG a coincidence. I'm sure the vessel was influenced by the Draconia. Oh yeah, the Akira class rules as well...OH and the Excelsior class. Still not too fond of those massive impulse/shuttle bays on the refit Excelsior...Shy [8)]

I agree!!! The Klingon D-7. Terror in space. Loved watching it in ST-TMP. Then followed up by the Enterprise in the movies and ST-TOS.

The Enterprise refit or the "A" are my favorite followed by the Delta Flyer-grace and class are evident in their designs-even though a real star ship would be more like the Nostromo from Alien-you don't have to be sleek and aerodynamic to move through the vacuum of space-but you really are lookin' good.

I think as technology advances and space contruction techniques improve, ships would eventually evolve to have "skins" covering all of the outer surfaces. If only for protection from hostile ships and/or environments.
Still TOS Defiant kicks major bootie!!!Big Smile [:D]LOL

I've never really liked ST (SW all the way!Wink [;)]), but it's ironic that there's also a SW ship that looks very similar to this, and is called the Marauder, IIRC. It appears in some of the books and one of the SW sims that came out years ago.

As for my fav, it'd have to be an Eclipse-class Star Destroyer...whoops...wrong galaxy Big Smile [:D].
