Episode III kits
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, May 12, 2005 7:33 PM
I've been in Germany for the past 2 1/2 years and am about to come back home. Are the Revell of Germany Star Wars kits available in the states, or should I stock up before I leave?

I haven't seen them in stores or online. Recommend you buy them before you leave Germany. I can't wait to get my hands on the Republic Star Destroyer.

gardentee,

I had my brother try to buy me those kits when he was in Frankfurt last week but he couldn't find any. He is going back in about 3 week, where could he buy them in Frankfurt?

Thanks,

Whiter

It's too bad they aren't being sold in the U.S. I can't seem to find any of the kits online for anything less than $30 with shipping and handling. Too much $$!!!

A site called entertainmenteart.com is taking pre-orders on the Sith Fighter and a Federation tank.I don't know where they are but they seem to have a North American phone number.

These kits are all available in the UK now. Many high street stores have them in stock, not just model shops, I think Woolworths have quite a few on sale now.

I've bought the Jedi Starfighter and have to say that it's light years ahead of the old AMT/ERTL Star Wars kits. Certainly not up to the standard of the latest Hasegawa/Trumpeter/Tamiya etc. aircraft kits, but then again they are mass-market, low-price kits and aren't aimed at expert modellers.
The level of detail, inside and out, is very good, and the scale of the kit (about 1/27) isn't far off that of the Hasbro toy spaceships.

They are all pre-coloured (apart from the Star Destroyer) but there's nothing to stop you from repainting them (I certainly intend to!)

Can't comment on the others, not having bought them, but I may also pick up the tri-fighter and the AT-RT some time in the future.

The ARC and walker are only available overseas. The rest should make it to the US market in June according to a rep from Revell GE. Starship Modeler now has all of the kits in stock but a little pricey (ARC is $40 + shipping). You can buy all 6 kits for about $180 which saves a little.
Eastern Tiger, the kits you spoke of sound like the ERTL/RC2 kits that will be available in the US. Haven't seen any detail pics on these yet but that droid tank is just crazy enough for me to get one.

Whiter, I would suggest the mall in Frankfurt or the larger retail stores (Wal-Mart, Tom, etc.). I live about 50k north of Frankfurt, and have seen the models at smaller shops and the larger Weyrauch(sp?) stores. Happy hunting!!

Buy them there if at all possible. They are technically not available in the US so getting them here is pricy.

And since I've given you this great advice you should pick some up for me.

Really.

I just returned from seeing a midnight showing of the movie and it is incredible!!! Excellent story and easily the darkest movie of both trilogies. I can't wait to get my hands on the RoG Republic cruiser. I hope they also release General Grievous' command ship.

http://www.monstersinmotion.com will have some Ep III model kits but they say not until Sept. 2005. They feature the Corporate Tank and Jedi Starfighter (new one).

Not to sound like a schill, but starship modeler has the Revell Deutschland kits in stock. Also, ERTL will reportedly release its own episode III kits in June.
