I did enjoy Mcaross(Roboech) when I saw it, but later on prefered the individual series more. Also not too fond of the poor MAcross Series.

Most the Series I enjoy are:
Mospeada
Dougram
Lazyner
Votoms
Ideom
Xabungle
and similar.

My favorite has always been Nausicaa. I love their air battles, the animation is just amazing, and the story is epic.

If you liked Nausicaa, you might take a liik at Miyazaki's other works that have been brought to the States. The only one I've seen is Princess Mononoke ( Disney's biggest import goof and NOT a G-rated cartoon ), but my friends have also recommended Spirited Away. Kiki's Delivery Service is also out there and created by the same guy.

BTW, for you Macross fans out there: Macross Zero is currently being released in Japan and should be imported in the next year or so. Hopefully it will bring about some new kits and re-issues of old ones! Big Smile [:D]

As far as I knew, there was only one Appleseed anime video ( soon to be 2? About Censored [censored] time! ), but that was only part of the store with storyline elements mixed from 2 story arcs from the manga.

If you're wanting more Appleseed, I suggest looking for the manga. The story is much more complex and will be different from what you remember, but it's one of my favorites. There have been 4 books brought to America so far along with a 2-volume, very rare "Databook" for the die-hard fans ( took me 10 years to find the latter ).

WARNING-The manga ( comic ) IS NOT FOR KIDS!!! In addition to more graphic violence than the anime, three of the four volumes have some brief nudity in them ( not "love scenes," ya pervs! ), so keep any tykes away!

If you liked Appleseed, you might also like Masamune Shirow's other sci-fi that you may have missed: Black Magic M-66, Dominion Tank Police and Ghost in the Shell. All are available in anime and manga form ( though, as with Appleseed, there are major differences between the storyline ) and the same WARNING applies to both formats of these stories as with Appleseed's manga.

For those not familiar with or just getting into anime and manga, pay attention to the ratings and "mature content" labels if you have kids. They're there for a reason and the people stocking the shelves don't always notice them ( as happened at our local Wal-Mart ), assuming all cartoons are rated G..

Dark Horse Comics published most of Shirow's stuff here in the States, and they just wrapped up the second Ghost on the Shell comic miniseries, so I'd say a local comic shop should be able to order the older titles. Our local Borders has a good selection of graphic novels, so you might try there, too.

The videos are another matter. Ghost in the Shell and Dominion Rank Police are both available on DVD, but look for them at a video store since wal-Mart or something similar is unlikely to carry them. The M-66 and Appleseed videos have been out of print for years with no news of a DVD release, so evilBay would be your best bet for those titles.
