Well I wouldnt go that far.. But I guess, I have just learned little tricks in the way I do things.. Alot of people really take the hobby very seriously, and so take their time when building.. I do it as a form of relaxation and expression!..

I have a saying, if you are not going to see it. Then dont spend time on it.. Also some people like to let paint dry for a whole day or week.. I simply allow my paint to dry properly, dont feel it necissary to wait so long, so I can get paint jobs done rather quickly..

I also build to my own tastes.. I have no desire to put my work in competitions, and so although I think my models turn out good, I dont feel pressure if the paint isnt exactly right, or there is a small scratch or mark somewhere.. People who look at my models never notice things like that, so I simply dont stress about it..

Also, I get sick when I smell the fumes of normal model glue.. So I use super glue to build my models, and so dont have to sit around waiting for stuff to dry.. It also allows me to get parts together, and not have to use putty as much.. If its a small seam, I super glue it and then sand.. If it is a big gap, I then putty.. But that is not very often..

Lastly, I spend the most time on a model in the preperation stage.. I go through the instructions back to front, and back again, and I work out the fastest and easiest way to build it.. I then set myself up an assemply line, I always keep stuff moving.... This is the part that no-one see's... As I have stated before, thats why it looks like I do alot of work at once.. But in all honesty, I have 2 or 3 half built models sitting for months now, still yet to be finished.. When the feel hits me, they will be done, or I am working on something similar..

Thanks for your kind words Bud.. And no, I am not paying you!Smile [:)]

Chris,

I can't believe I'm just seeing this thread today. Your Yamato looks fantastic!!!

I really enjoyed the Starblazers TV show when I was a kid, even though I hardly remember any of it today. Smile [:)]

I had a model of the Yamato that was about six or eight inches long that I build more than 15 years ago. I think I tossed it.

Anyway, thanks for sharing the photos.

Regards,

-Drew

Thanks Drew. Happy to share...

I am the same as you.. I do remember watching the show as a kid. But dont ask me what it was about.... It was simply just an impulse build, as its the only kit that I had seen in a store here after 5 years of living in Japan...

Cheers, Chris

Well, it seems I got here after you sold it, but you sure did a great job on the Uchu Senkan Yamato, Chris! Congrats on the nice sale, too.
Good luck on the big ol' 1/200 Nichimo Yamato! From what I hear that big boy is a detailer's dream!

Thanks Brian... Actually the Yamato is the ARII 1/250 scale version.. They are being sold in Toy's R Us, and I actually saw a couple at Jusco last year..I will be building this one out of box, but am thinking about scratching all the railings and so forth... But I want to build it first, and then down the track add the extras..

Cheers, Chris

I had completely forgotten Arii put out a big Yamato! I see the Nichimo kit everywhere, so I guess it got drilled into my head.

Well then, good luck with the big Arii kit!

Chris,

Great Model.  I'm a new modeler/ old modeler.  I haven't built any in about 15 yrs.  But I have been looking for a large scale Argo/ Yamato (star blazers fan since I was a kid) model like the one you have here.  It looks great.

But I can't seem to find any on the web.  What is the largest model of the Yamato/ Argo you can find and where can I find one to purchase?   I'm not having much luck I have been looking for a week.  I just now found this site, and your post doing a google search.  But I can never seem to find any for sell.

Email: Shocker88@triad.rr.com

Thanks for your or anyone's help.  I'm not a good forum person, but I will try and check back a few times a week.

Regards,

Greg

Wow, I had totally lost this thread... Sorry I didnt reply to everyone.....

Brian, the Arii kits seem to be a Toy's R Us thing, as thats the only place I have seen it...

Anime Modeler.. As far as I am aware, the 1/500 kit is the biggest kit available... There is a warped version with an over sized front end, but not sure how big it is?

REL, thanks for the compliment.. I am in awe of your scratchbuilding talents, so its a nice compliment to recieve...Do you a trade for a Sovie!!Big Smile [:D]  Jokes.....

Chris
