Borg Cube Model Project Needs *Your* Help!

A couple of young men in the Chicago-land area are working on a 1/2500 scale Borg Cube. I don't think that it's exactly 1/2500 as far as scale is concerned w/the Borg Cube as seen in TNG's "Q Who?", but it's of a most impressive size, regardless. It's also only about 6" "deep" and not a full Cube.

Anyhow, these young men need our help with bits-n-bobs to cover the surface of their model. If you've got anything in the way of sprue you can send them from old kits, I know they'd be most appreciative of your assistance. For reference, see the 1/2500 Borg Cube thread at The 2500 Page Forums. They're even willing to cover the cost of postage of sprue to their location.

And I'm sure it'll be greatly appreciated! As someone wanting to help out these young college fellas - they just graduated high school - I'd like to say "Thanks". I've got another box that I'm sending them soon, as I made a trip to the storage unit last week, plus have lots of extra goodies from Jimi/StuPidasso (at Starship Modeler) and stuff taken from the Resin Drop at LesterFest this past weekend to send. That and two of the fellas at the local model club are donating some stuff from their stash of sprue as well.

We'll eventually get these guys assimilating your models!

They've received at least one box of sprue goodness and I know of two more boxes headed their direction. I've just sealed up my second to send them.

No.

However, the young men have received a number of donations to their cause and have updated pics. They got one large box of sprue from one of the fellas at Hobby Talk - Lloyd Collins - and have gone to town w/the first layer. Lloyd's working on his second box, as am I.

Man... I can only imagine how large that'd have to be! You'd need something like an acre of land just to keep the dang thing! And then wouldn't you almost be required to build starships in the same scale...?

Hmmm what is the actual dimension of the borg cube from the Enterprises first encounter with the Borg? And I think that a 1/35th scale Enterprise would definitely be a pretty huge but wouldn't a 1/1 scale Starship require a small country to house it?

Well, according to the Borg Ships page at Ex Astris Scientia, the "smaller" versions of the Borg Cube seen in VOY are 3,000m on a side. At 1/35 scale, that gives us a model that's 281.2' / 85.7m on a side. Pretty darned big!
