I took some of my Rejected Castings and Played Dr. Frankenstein and using some Copper Wire...

I tried to MIMIC the GG Stance...

Since I don't have the Cash to Fork on a Pre-made Statue... I decided to try getting a similar Vignette using my 1/11th  Scout !  and AMT bike

I have lots of work cut out for me..   Sculpting New Legs... and New Boot Soles.. and changing the Left Foot to match the new Stance...

Still don't know if I will have him Hold his Blaster or maybe a New Sniper Rifle !!!   time will tell !

I also corrected the Torso Armor plate  front and back... but still have to build up the Neck and correct the outline of both shoulder straps .. More on that later...

I cut off the Breathing apparatus from his Back and Brought it up by almost 5mm  and reshapped the lower back to match photos I've got !   once that is done  I will make a New Casting and refine the Resin casting to enable me to attach the arms and the New Waist (Hips) I am also changing to HOST a long Nut  to enable me to Screw in the Bike from underneath so simulate HOVER !!!

Catch you all on the Flip side !!!

Had time to work a little on the Relaxed Scout !!!

I was able to secure a Threaded Wood Insert Nut in his "Left Butt Cheek" and while this was Setting in Appoxie Putty I made sure to cover the Seat with Vaseline to prevent the Putty to stick everywhere... and give me a good Seat impression in the Scout's Gluts.

I only had to drill a small hole.. 1/4 of an Inch into the seat and accessed the Screw head by the Bike Stand circular part under the bike which I drilled out ! the Rod inside the Scout's Left Leg is now Supporting the entire Vignette. and it's pretty cool !!! to see it come alive !

I will use a small piece of Styrene once I am done ... to plug the hole... on the Bike's Belly! something I can remove easily in case I need to dis-assemble the Model for transport !

So far I like Where this is going !!!!

I only have a small Picture of it.... in Hover Mode... the Legs and Gluts still need to be Refined and all the nice wrinkles and Pleats added to suit the Stance... WiP pictures always shows the good and bad about a project !

Right now; I am Sanding down all excess putty to a smooth finish; So I can start on a clean slate !

I also added some Appoxie Putty to the stomach area and Kept it Back by 2 or 3 mm in order to have yet another clean base to add the Cummerbund pleats... and give him a firm six Pack !!!

I till have to redo the left arm completely .. Just so I can have a Good One Piece arm to add to the figure...

Here are some pix !

and Pardon the Messy bench !!! Am'IBad

It's  LEFT HAND TIME !!!

After making  a small armature...  out of Guitar strings... Cuz !  That’s what I had on hand ! I am sure any other types of wire would do !!!!

I used a small Brass tube more or less 5mm in length..  and loaded it with 5 guitar strings more or less the same length  as I didn't know yet which would become what finger... till the glue had Set !

I then kneaded some Appoxie Putty and made some small rolls which I impaled on my strings... and roughly sculpted into a somewhat believable finger shape....

I am satisfied with the first results... but it still need to fully cure before I can carve or tweak the fingers...  the Guitar strings are there to act as support ! Putty alone could be very brittle... if Knocked against something.

Vaseline sure help Keeping the Appoxie to stick to everthing ....

It's Not Rocket science !!!   I am Happy that my New Twist on the G.G. figure is getting somewhere....    Next I need to learn to add Pleats on Leather boots..  I am trying to go all out on this one...  it's a good learning tool !!!

Take care All....

Great job!  Bow [bow]

Thank you for sharing your WIP. It has given me a boost to continue my project.

I am in the process of resculpting my trooper (regular sitting position.) Some of the oversized details have been carved down or "sharpened up" with an exacto blade. I have cut a lot of the bad details off and filled them in with epoxy putty. I also had to sand down the boots and had to figure out how to carve new folds. So I understand what you are going through.

I have cut the helmet off and replaced it with new head. My plan is to pose the figure lifting the helmet as if they were putting it on.

Looking at the limited photos of a reinactors and notice that there are huge differences to the model. The model looks really bad in comparison. I am stuck trying to figure out how to make a new one. Did you bulid a new helmet?  Do you have any suggestions?

 Thanks again for sharing

Todd

Todd !  thanks for your comments...

in deed I made a New Helmet...   Although not perfect by anymeans...  I prefer mine to the AMT one

The Week end was long... and I took my Work outside...  Patio Time !!!

and I Just slowly tweaed the Tights and filling the Flanks with some AveS putty !  Vaseline was my Friend to prevent the Arms from Sticking to the Torso ! as I might do a few Castings....  The neighbours were confused... seeing a guy with Latex gloves outside... on his patio playing with Putty vs. drinking beer !!!   it's a free country !

I have modified the Chest Armor and would like to use This New one in my Next Project !
Yes.... still coming up with more ideas for More Scouts.... I know !!!!

While the AveS was drying; I continued with the AMT Bike (Forks)  I don't go nuts on the bike... I like it just OOB ... a good Clean up is just what it needs...

I learned a lesson on my last Model show...  This is why the Fork Assembly will be made into a sub-assembly... I'll use Mini magnets to Hold it in place; Magnets in the Upper Hull and small screws heads on the very Tip of the locator pins...so I can easily remove it for transport !

Taking shape..... ever so slowly... but I am not in a Hurry !  This project should be ready by October 26th.

Just a little Update ! Question [?]

I added the CORE! (Cummerbund) and Armour Pads “Straps”... made of Tamiya Tape... and sealed with Thin C.A. I used the pads to help locate the Straps, Once painted black the Tape texture shows through and looks different from the Body Glove fabric.

I will make a new Accessory Belt tonight... and sand down and replace the one left on the Biker... plus the Thermal Det. at the back ! I also finished assembling the Bike! The only conversions made to the original AMT Bike were: the Blaster Canon which is now made of a Brass tube and I replaced its Power Cable with a wound guitar string; of appropriate size... I don’t know the Actual Note ! Sorry !

The Bike Power Conduits were also Replaced with 4mm Steel Springs from MechaSkunk.com “nice stuff”.. A single 12" spring is good enough for One Bike... Just cut to size. The locator holes for each conduit, only need to be slightly enlarge to facilitate the switch. I seal them to the bike with a dab of Future... which forms a nice little Fillet and hides small imperfections. With the exception of the Right Hand Side Spring! This one needs a “Slave Wire” inside to Help Conform the rather complicated bend! I also added a small 4.2mm Tube to act as a “Sleeve” for the spring going the Turbo Charger... ( I call It That ) and just to reinforce my Point ! I'm no longer wasting my time with the Kit's Oblong Tubing.

I will later add a set of Throttle Cables made out of Wound Guitar Strings bent to shape and that should be it....for mods. As far as the Scout is concerned! I will add a few Pleats to the Pants and Arms, Not too many!.... and make the details on the Air Tank. The project is moving alone nicely!

Take care all !

The Emporer will be most pleased with your progress, Captain.

Please post up a bit on how you did the neckseal.  7 rib or four rib?

I have tried to make ribs and bellows joints with putty and they wind up looking like bellows joints made from putty.  Rolling snakes of putty does me no good either...whats your process?

thanks!

David

Actually I don't have much to say on the Neck seal !   I got around.. 5 to 7 Pleats...and to make matter worse !    I actually used a Snake that I laid down from the Back and up around the shoulders and to the Front and so forth !!!   all the way to the Neck till I ran out of Snake !

Then I tapped it down a bit… to make it stick to the Under base… after that I used a “ROUND Toothpick”  !   Dipped in Vaseline!!!  To Crease the snake rolls!  or “ Bellows “ like you call yours....

I also made sure the armor outline stayed Clear .... by that I mean  DEFINED.. and not Swamp with Putty !

I coated the Pleats with a light smear of Vaseline with my Gloved finger !!!  just to Smooth out the thing.... I might revisit the Pleats later with a little Sand paper to refine some of the edges….

Sorry !!!   I just went by Ear....   sorry !  I should have taken more shots… for sure…

and yes.. mine to do look like small bellows now that you mention it !!!  LOL

It is such a small area....  that I didn't bother do too much with it....  I just wanted a few Folds and Wrinkles to Blend with the Helmet !!!

With that material….  AveS putty…   if I don’t like… I can always sand it down and start over…    it’s not that expensive…   you have a good 2 to 4 hrs to play with it….  Before it hardens’.

Always Remember.... to prevent sticking.... make sure you use Vaseline to let your tools Glide... on the material !  and it doesn't affect the hardening of AveS putty !

Well Well !!!

I am entering that Stage... where I feel Burt-out again !!!  and I gotta Push or kick myself in the Butt to Keep going....

I have left that guy on the Bench and Felt Lethargic for the last Few Weeks, No energy what so ever... :static:

So... I went out and bought a few "Inks" from the Games Workshop line up !!!  Pre-made washes !    I heard good things about them !!! and dabbed a few drops here and there ... story to get a Glimpse at what They Could do !!

Those INKS  are Great and Dry Mate !!   which is a plus !

I have started to detail the Bike and in the process of painting a few things...

I took time to ADD the Ammo pouches on the Trooper using Small Flat cloth elastic bands... cut to size,    I still have to make the Quick Release buckles... and will slip them over in the appropriate spots...

Almost Done !   Once I reach the Weathering on the Bike... I'll post some more pictures....  Hope you like ???

take care !

Almost Done !

I am still debating on which direction to point the head ! left right tilted...

Tilted to his left.

I have to say though, the weathering on the front of the bike looks alittle overdone, the streaking.

Yeah, I agree with smeagol here on the front end. Maybe tone it down a little with the scrapes. About the head, I like it up and to the left. pretty much like how you have it. To the right just doesn't look right with the pose. Anyway, it looks really great! Are you selling it? Laugh [(-D] I belive you said you were making more of these? Maybe you could do a small diorama with a tent and other Star Wars camp equip or something like that. Just a thought.

Dude, that is excellent work!

You should post this over at the RPF in the General Modeling section; there's a ton of Imperial types that would absolutely loooove this...

Hey Schweinhund277, I noticed something. The comlink built into the "nose" of the helmet needs to be something like medium grey. Just thought I'd note that. Other than that, great job! Bow [bow] (again)

the inks are strange but helpful. I tried using them as a straight wash (in accordance with Citadels' own guide book) and it was awful. Now i use the Flesh Wash all the time, it is a dark umber. Mix it with a drop of water and a drop of either glaze (uncolored binder in a bottle that they sell) or with a drop of future floor wax. It will go where you put it and stay in the recesses. then wipe off the extra with a bit of alcohol. Love it now that I figured out how to work with it!

i would go for the jungle/ ferns look. It places the bike into a familiar setting and also allow you to hid any further props you may want to use. the other jungle base on the five man patrol looked fantastic, that would send this right over the top.

Excellent!
