Got my Schnellboot's in today (both of them) took only 2 days. Too bad you didn't do a tutorial on how to hollow out the torpedo tubes.

Pretty tough if your surfaced and your slugging it out point blank but if you are at periscope depth you just put a couple fish into them and they sink. But you need to set the depth of your torpedo's to get them below the waterline since Destroyers sit a bit higher in the water than say a Cruiser or Battleship and a Carrier sits deeper than a Battleship due to the weight of ammo fuel and planes.
Have you encountered anything like a cruiser or above and engaged?

Just letting you know I ordered the S-100 and S-100 Flak38 kits today from Sprue Bros. And made a interesting discovery RoG actually offers a figure set that covers both the U-boat kit and the S-100 kits.Big Smile [:D]

http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=REV02525

and here is the review

http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/figures/rm/kit_rm_2525.shtml

And next one you do do it with the eel coming halfway out of the tube as if it is being fired and add some cotton at the same time to simulate the vapor cloud from the compressed air. (This is very pronounced in the North Atlantic and the English Channel during Winter and early spring. Just add some small tufts of cotton.)

I believe it is but it would be cool to have both versions. And have you ever thought of loading both of the Torpedo tubes and having 4 extra fish on deck so you can take out 6 transports or a few destroyers with 2 fish each ship. Oh god now Im talking like Manny.Tongue [:P]

Got to admit, this is a mean looking boat!! Comments and critiques as always are welcome!

Have you thought about getting the S-100 w/ Flak 38 Flakvierling also 1/72 scale and also from Revell of Germany?

Thanks for stopping in and takin a look everyone! Can't believe its been over a month since I have worked on this thing!!! Things have been really busy plus took some time off to go to an AMPS show in Atlanta which I placed silver and bronze in with some armor pieces!!

So finally, back to the s-boot, got some schnellbootweis laid down on the hull and the kalotte. So far so good. almost time to start adding the smaller bits and pieces to the decks and get the guns built up.

Lucked up with some WEM resin eels for this baby which will be strapped down to the decks. Think I will start them next and get them outta the way.

I have just joined the forum after a bit of a break from modelling. I would usually be a plane modeller with armour as a second choice. I bought this kit for a third of the selling price as I always liked the looks of the old Airfix E-boat kit. I have tried to do a bit of research on this but found you guys who seem to have done it all. I got the model with the quad flak 38 on the rear,I don't know if it is included in the other release as I was surprised to find the 37mm (x2,double sprues I know) included. Just trying to sort my choice of paints out at the moment. Great build n getting lots of info for when I can start mine.

More work done on the boat today, been a fairly good weekend for modelling!! Started working on the propulsion. This would round out the hull and would enable me to go ahead and get it primed.

Once finished with the lower hull, it was time for the flat black primer...

Got to admit, this is one sleek mean looking machine!! Now on to a mission in Silent Hunter III and hopefully I wont get rammed by a Clemson class destoyer and sink this time!!! Thanks for stopping in!

Nice work on the tubes Jester ! I am planning on putting one fish in a tube (gives an idea of how big they are if you look in through the tube doors), one fish half way in a tube and of course the two spare fish in the rails on deck.Keep the photos coming.

cheers,

Julian Thumbs Up [tup]

Doh, got a little click happy and clicked post instead of preview..

Anywho, got the deck gap filled and started working on the open torpedo tube. After digging around the house to find a suitable plastic tube that would simulate the eel's home, I came up with a medicine dropper that comes with childrens Advil. May be kinda hard to see in the pics as it is clear. Using a Dremel, I hollowed out the tube ends very carefully.

Will post some more tonight, hoping to get the hull primed and painted as soon as I finish with this tube. Thanks for taking a peek and as usual, all thoughts and comments are welcome!

Thanks Julian and MR.

Got a little bit of work done on the sboot this evening. While dry fitting the deck, I discovered there was a small gap that just would not do on the where the deck meets the transom. A couple of pieces of .02 x.04 strip later and you'd never know it was there!

I never finished the Revell S-100. I wasn't trying to do the "Lang" but went for the three colour camouflage (that was never painted on 100 series boat anyway) and armed with airbrushes, several pots of paint and a jar of maskol I set out to do the camo. Things sort of went from bad to worse and the maskol fought the paint all the way. The model moved into the storage room, sat there for about a year until I changed my hobby room. I decided the S-100 was going nowhere and was looking pretty dreadful waiting to get there so I threw the build into the garbage can (along with some "ugly sisters"that I did not post here Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]). The remaining parts went into the sparebox. Luckily not one of the most expensive kits and it taught me an awful lot about maskol Banged Head [banghead].

cheers,

Julian
