I picked up the Academy kit yesterday from a LHS for $40. It looks great in the box. This thread will help with the painting. I love that final camo scheme she wore.

I trust you had read about the main Turret issues with both the Academy & Trumpeter kits first?

No, I did not read about them until you posted the link. Thank you for doing so. I will remove the molded on chevron on my kit. Most of the issues listed there (rivets, lips over covers etc.) , are more nit picky than I care for currently. I am still new to ship models as an adult. Over the past 26 years my main areas have been aircraft, armor, and figures. I am only building my first ship now since high school in 1981 or so. My read on all this is that neither kit is correct, and both have various issues. Even if the Trumpeter kit was 100% dead bang on, I can not justify the cost of that kit. I have too many other responsiblities to worry about. In the end, I am sure I can make this look like a reasonable likeness of the real ship.
