LCVP Weathering
Posted by CapnMac82 on Thursday, August 20, 2009 3:24 PM

We've had several go-rounds on weathering LCVP here.

Was searching for something else, and Google offered up the search phrase "lcvp for sale."  Intrigued, I followed that, and found this:

Now, digging down in the comments, there's reasonable contention (and the first one shown is FG).  But, the weathering is what caught my eye.  That, and the burnished bronze color of the wheel.

The second one they show, does show the metal plates, and the rust lines resulting from them.

Enjoy.

Interesting link. Not the weathering, but the story of LCVP sale. Too bad that thread died down years ago. Otherwise I may put my real WWII-era LCVPs on sale for $200 only. These ones:

Italeri's:

Well, best thing from the full-size photos for me is knowing just how much to sand down those side bolts on the FM LCVP (and to add a few at the internal brackets).

The instrument and starting switch array photos were worth it.  That, and showing that the cleats are wooden battens.

Now, if there were just a neat way to replicate how 8-10 kapok life jackes mash in behind the storage rails . . .
