Hi Mark

Hows the Hood build coming along? I'm just about to start the same kit with Eduardo PE accessory set. Its a bit daunting i must say. I still haven't got my head around how to go about painting it. I'm more used to armour, this is only my 2nd ship build.

Cheers

The rigging especially looks good, and the areas around the "starfish" is outstanding.

Thanks for the comments Bondo. Sorry not getting back to you earlier. Blast Bags can range in many Colours. The USN has used Dark Blue, White, Canvas and even Black for the Bags. The Royal Navy mainly uses Canvas Colour or even Dark Gray. It all depends on each specific Vessel. Have done some more Work on the Hood. The Bow Area only needs Railings and the Anchor Chains now. Just need to add the Props and do some weathering and she is done. More to come soon.....Cheers Mark

Nice looking so far, but one question. The "blast bag" seals on the guns. In the USN they usually were painted the same color as the boat covers- deck blue or whatever the horizontal color happened to be. In the RN was canvas color the rule?

Long haul indeed!

Way to stick with the build Surfsup!

Your excellent WIP's and text will help fellow modelers with their ship yard construction.

Once complete may I request a few outdoor photographs? It seems the lighting around your work area has changed the tint & hue of the color.

Have now commenced work on her Mainmast. Things were going along nicely until I realised that I had put the Starfish Platform on backwards. That has now been fixed and main Assembly is now complete. With this Mast done, I now only have the Small details, Rigging, Railings and weathering to go. More to come shortly....Cheers Mark.

Thanks Mike and Stick for stopping buy and your comments are appreciated. Have not done much for a while through Life, Work and a bit of Burnout but am back into her Build. I have started work on her Stack Tops buy drilling out the Moulded Details on her Caps and replacing them with P/E. The Paravanes combine 1 Plastic and 5 P/E Parts and drove me Nuts. Have also built up 10 P/E Cable Reels and will rig and place them shortly.  The Pen in the Pic gives you an idea of the size of the Paravanes. More to come soon.....Cheers Mark

Thanks for the comments Tigerman. They are much appreciated. If you plan your Rigging before the Build, it makes it easier. I use a product called E-Z-Line from the States. It is elastic and comes in Black or Grey. The line comes in Spools of 100 Feet and Thick Or Thin. I highly recommend it for 350 or 700 work.....Cheers Mark

Rigging is another thing that scares me of building ships. A beautiful rigging job just makes it complete IMO.

Keep up the good work.

The After Stack Area is now complete with Rigging before Painting commences. The Steam Venting Pipes have been attached and the Ends have been drilled out. I have added Plasticard to the interior and some Piping from a cut down Straw to fill the Void to fill this otherwise empty Space. The loose RIgging Lines will be anchored to their repective Ends once the Sub-Assembly is attched to the Model. More to come soon.....Cheers Mark
