Sorry, didn't get the penny in there, but my cutting mat is there(1" squares). Doesn't really help much, I know. I'll get some later with the penny.

Finished up the tower.

The flag is a decal, I sandwiched a piece of alum. foil in it so that it could be bent, hold it's shape, and still be semi-rigid. It worked out great! The decal did not have a Swastika, I penned that in, which bled a bit. I touched it up with white paint to cover the bleed.

Next up will be the "big" gun, then rigging....YEAH!!!

Your PE looks great! I though I was brave taking on a generic railing set for my 1/350 Tamiya Bismark and it looks like a blind man with 10 thumbs put it together compared to your work Cool.

Well, she's ready to go with in the tub tonight!!! (I have a great big jacuzzi tub, plenty of room!!!) Aside from a day or two of shear madness, it was enjoyable enough. Finishing touches were added this morning. I tried fine fishing line for the rigging, it just didn't look right, even after running a black sharpie along it. I ended up going with stretched sprue. It took a few attempts to get the consistancy right, for the whole length, but I managed. The larger "blocks" on the lines are PE parts, the smaller are balls of thick paint.

U-boat type VIIC

I'll be heading back to the air, where I belong!!!

Well you may belong in the air, but you seem to be cool with your aquatic side. Again, great work on the whole thing, but I'm really taken in by that torpedo being loaded.

Great, now I'm going to have to find a U-boat of my own!

Right...what you gonna do?---after what I saw you attempt with the HO, my guess is that you are gonna start with an empty toliet-paper tube and maybe a couple of toothpicks?

I'd love to see one pic with the boat next to a coin for scale---I'm thinking it looks much bigger than what it really is...

An absolute pleasure to view!

Is that a navigation light near the stern?

I love what you did with the torpedo. Was that in the instructions,or did you research that?

Thank you sir! I'm assuming it is some sort of light back there, seen it in a pic. The torp was part of the PE set, no option in the kit.

Alright Manny, I got you a penny pic.

I know the penny looks a little goofy,

that's just because it's Canadian.

Around here, they get in the mix

with the regular money, from time to time!

I figured with the rear of the boat being low in the water, the brake light would be the one on the back of the conning tower. Like the turlit seat on the side of the tower, some things just defy logic!

It is indeed a light on a funny placeSmile Should be white light though... the ones on the side of the conning tower should be red and green (position lights). The one at the stern and behind the wintergarden are white.

Enough nitpicking... Fermis, you have built a true masterpiece here and it IS a delight to watchYesYesYes Well done! Couldn't stretch an inch of sprue that consistent myself...

"uboat.net" tells me the overall length is 67.1m (about 220 feet), scaled down = a little over 18". Indifferent Indifferent

Are the lights on the conning tower those covered bulges between the fish emblems and the orange donuts?

Very well done especially in this small scale, the photos make it look like the 1/72 version (36").
