Chucker

Thanks Rich. What great support I've received on this site for both aircraft and ship models. I have quite a collection of WWII 1/48 Aircraft and 1/350 Ships fron all nations envoled. Looks like you're just about 40 miles east of Springfield. Hope you're having a cooler summer than most of the nation.

Terrible! Triple digit temperatures, no rain, pond drying up.

Chuck,

I'm doing the same model for a customer right now. I hand tie my shrouds and ratlines Go to my webshots link and look for the Constitution album.  Go to the last page I just upload some pictures of the foremast shrouds.  I finished the main mast and will have the mizzenmast finished by Saturday. (when I'm not rigging or building models, I'm restoring a 1960 GMC Truck as you'll see.

Hello Mike,

Thank you so much for those leads. I try hard to capitalize on thew  experience of others with complex models before I start. I do a lot of homework and then make a list of ways and tips before I start. This kit looks like a doosey.

Hi Chuck,

I'm currently building the 1/96 Connie. I used the OOB ratlines though. Here are a few addresses that helped me in my build:

I would honestly begin by looking at the numerous threads in this forum about that kit.  However, I know of no books specific to this kit, there are several books that could help.

1. Biddlecomb, G. (1990).  The art of rigging.  New York, NY: Dover Publications, Inc.

2. Wilkins, L. (1980). How to build plastic ship models. Milwaukee, WI: Kalmbach Publishing Co.  This book is out of print. There is a chapter on building the Revell 1/96 Constitution as its sister USS President.  If you want a copy of the chapter, I will send it to you. Just email me with your address.

I have this kit and will be starting it soon. I have searched all of the websites I could find on articles on how to build this and avoid mistakes on this kit. Does anyone know of a thread, a book or a site where I can find detailed instructions and tips to build this other than the Revell instructions included in the kit? For example, I read three articles that advised me to not use the ratlines supplied in the kit, but build your own manually.

Thanks,

Chuck
