Is it anything like the quality of the Fujimi 1:350 scale Shokaku ?

Manny, you  seem to have a nautical fixation lately. Did you have a new pool installed or something?!? I keep thinking I want to build one of these crazy 1/350 ships, but then I realize it wouldn't look so good hanging from the ceiling...

Not just ships.

Manny is checking out the new Japanese armor kits, as well.

Can't be certain, but

Manny may just be re-living his pre-war days in Japan ........

or the kits just float well along side his rubber ducky...........

I have not touched 1/350 in many moons.  I might just have to look into this Fujimi bumbpy bummpy.

Hmmm from what I hear there are only Subs and targets. I only have one target in my stash So I may have to check it out

You could be onto something - that Japanese armour was actually "naval" armour wasn't it?

I've done one ship that never got finished. I think it needs to become a test bed for painting, weathering and such.

..it comes with a premixed tin of rust coloring...

The Japanese manufacturers are designing kits for the home market; they aren't widely distributed beyond their shores. Those that are tend to be by specialty shops (like FreeTime) that are better at sizing inventory and less likely to need to discount excess. They tend to be more of a roll-the-dice for price breaks; you might find a discount on eBay, or they might hold their price until they're gone and collectible.

Yep, that's why I'll probably end up popping for this MOJO now...initial look at this kit and their Shokaku seems to show somewhat "softer" detail on the Hiryu than the Shokaku...not enough info yet to tell for sure but I'm wondering if they spent more time with the Shokaku vs the Hiryu w/ the molds, etc...

 

Seems more and more that some new kits don't last very long on the market and a decision to purchase must be made soon after initial release.

Any reviews out there yet on this M O J O ???
