Trumpeter's 1/350th Scale HMS Queen Elizabeth 1943 refit

Here's her majesty (again) this time in 1/350th scale. Trump's larger scale kit is the 1943 refit and out of the box looks real nice. The hull is split in halves with internal braces like Hasegawa kits and the fit is so much better than Trumpeter's usual upper and lower hulls:

Here are the rest of the sprues:

Here's the color plan:

I've got the hull glued and while that's drying I'm starting the superstructure. More pics coming soon!

Thanks for lookin' and happy modeling!

Here's an easy fix for the generic Trumpeter base.

All you need right here.

Mask off the 'wood' and spray the base black.

TD - That's a neat idea! Just might have to try it.

I've got an update tonight. I got the hull red and the boot stripe painted as well as the decks. I washed the the decks but I have to dry brush yet:

I also started on the upper works. Got some P/E on the funnel too:

Man, I've got two weeks off from work so it's MODELIN' TIME!!!!

More pics to come soon!

Are there major differences between the Trump Queen Elizabeth and the Academy Warspite?

Thanks

Different ships with different fits; the arrangements of the secondary guns on QE is quite different than Warspite's

Greetings fellow modelers! Update time. I've got the hull painting done and started on picking out the little details on the decks:

I'm still not happy with the deck yet - I may do some more washes and dry brushing to lighten it up a bit. I also got some paint on the aircraft hangers and funnel. I added some P/E too:

Next step is applying  a wash to the hull and the hanger assembly. So far no real problems - the fit is good even with the many panels that make up the superstructure. More pics to come and please comments/critiques welcomed!

Happy modeling!

Greetings fellow modelers! It's been a while since I last posted but I have been busy on my build. I got the decks glued on the hull and began adding all the little deck details. I added P/E anchor chain over top of the molded chain and it looks much better:

I picked out the details by brush and started adding a wash:

While the wash was drying I started assembly and painting of the ships boats:

Here they are sittin' in their cradles:

I also got one turret built and painted:

That's all for now. As always, comments/critiques greatly appreciated! Thanks for lookin' and happy modeling!

Greetings fellow modelers! Thank you for the replies! I haven't had much modelin' time lately but I do have some progress to show. The superstructure is coming together nicely. I've been building it in layers - assemble, paint, add P/E, then wash and dry brush. here's the bridge in progress:

The ships boats mounted. I butchered the one whale boat removing it from the sprue, so I gave it a tarp fashioned from tape:

Here's the stern deck house in progress:

An overall view:

That's it for now, but lots more to come. Thanks for lookin' and happy modeling!
