What a fine model!
This is one of my favorite Revell kits. For some reason the company doesn't say so, but it's actually an extremely accurate model of the Gokstad Ship, one of the two major surviving Norse ships. When I built mine I worked from a fine set of plans in a book called The Viking Ships, by A.W. Brogger and Haaken Shetelig. The kit matches the drawings almost perfectly - down to the locations of the individual deck planks and the slightly inconsistent tapering of the hull planks at the bow and stern.
This is one of the kits I highly recommend for newcomers to the hobby - and for anybody who appreciates the beautiful, subtle shapes of Viking ships. As Docidle has shown us, it can be turned into a beautiful model.
Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.
