Thanks.  It was a good, enjoyable, fun build.  At some point I will go back and build a much more presentable container/box for the lighting system switch...but this works for now.

Now I am on to the 1/350 scale JMSDF DDH-181 Hyuga by Fujimi.

It is a much newer manufactured and tooled model, and very very close to the same size vessel (and thus model) as the Illustrious.

I'll be posting a thread on that in the next day or so after I get started.

I just completed the 1/350 scale Japanese Hyuga. DDH-181 by Fujimi, here:

Let me know what you think. The size between that vessel and the HMS Illustrious are very similar.

Hey, stickpusher, if you are interested, I just completed the 1/350 scale Japanese Hyuga. DDH-181 by Fujimi, here:

Let me know what you think. The size between that vessel and the HMS Illustrious are very similar. PArticularly interesting since the Japanese just launched (last week) the even larger, more capable JS Izumo, DDH-183. 150 ft longer, and 8,000 tons heavier. Looking forward to that model coming out!

U* sre miss these Invincible class. Yes they were small, and they only had the relatively small wing of Harriers. But they proved their effectiveness and the RN sailors kpet them very squared away. Now the RN has no carriers for several more years yet...and it is just a shame that the last of them was recently haued off to the breakers. I hope AirFix or xomeone makes a 1/350 QE Class carrier model soon.
