Academy 1/350 U.S.S. Indianapolis Detail Set
Posted by pittsfieldpete on Monday, June 17, 2013 11:01 AM

Hello:

I just got Academy's nice 1/350 U.S.S. Indianapolis kit. Is there a PE detail set available yet? I found a web page saying that a set by Blue Ridge is available from Free Time Hobbies, but it turns out to be a dead link.

Help?

Thanks,

Pete

I just purchased the same kit. I as well have been looking for a detail set with PE with no luck. Have you been able to find any yet?

Thank you

Gold Medal Models lists one on their web page.

I'm sure it's incredible and worth the money, GMM always is.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Those are nice sets, but I think this is the one you want:

I believe they have multiple sets with varying levels of advanced detail...

Force9 I think that's the set YOU want ( I would too).

The OP is looking for a second ever ship kit.

I've worked with both companies and they're both good. The GMM set will be simpler and less expensive, but will still add a lot. Pontos goes the extra mile and is dedicated to their customers, so I don't see either as a bad decision depending on skill level and tenacity

Force9 I would have to agree with GMorrisonon this one.

This is going to be my second ever ship build. I do like a lot of the PE and wooden decks but that's still above my level. I still want to keep it fun for now and not work.

Thanks for the input :)
