Finishing up the rigging and entering completion phase.I am very happy withe way this one turned out!  I may build another ship in the fall(Might be the big Connie)but after building two fully rigged sailing ships in a row,I think I will pump the brakes and build a gun nosed B-25 J.The only rigging on the Mitchell is the antenna wires

Well I added a 5th triangular sail that sure looks like a jib

to me. I installed the mizzen mast and am in the process of tying on the ratlines to the shrouds. I tied the spanker to the boom but will hold of installing it until more rigging is tied on. Things are proceeing smoothly

Been a while since I was tested on "the sails of a ship."  But,  i well remember the guidance to avoid a 'trick' question--a ship has four headsails, three are jibs.  Flying jib, Outer Jib, Inner Jib, and Fore Staysail.

I added a 5th jib to the front and installed the main mast and laced the sails onto all the yards and attached them to the mast.

Began constructing the main mast and used the plastic mounts for the yards on the brass tube.

John,

Amen, Brother, Amen!  All too often we forget that we need to define the limitations of study in our research in order to keep our focus.  This axiom applies equally to academic research and ship modeling, with the frustrating part being that our source data is often incomplete. But, we do what we can.

Your Hancock, though, is most impressive. I'm still waiting to see what you do with that Model Shipways USS Essex I gave to you!

Are you going to install the studding sails as well?
