Thank you.

Trumpeter also sells that kit in 1/700.

Toshi, do a Pearl Harbor subject again.

CA-32 New Orleans, or a really easy kit the CV-2 USS Lexington. Trumpeter makes a great model of her, not very expensive comes out as an impressive model.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I think I will do so.  Just thus simple build has brought forth a wealth of knowledge and comraderies.  Maybe a Japanese Air Craft Carrier?  LOL!  Thank you sir for your input, as well as the read and reply.

I don't agree Surf. The Dragon 1/700 kit is considered the most accurate kit. And generally accurate in every way.

I would say that the 1/350 Banner/ Trumpeter/ Hobby Boss kit is an equal of the Revell kit. Someone mentioned earlier that that kit had the same horrible horizontal split detail through the portholes. So I went and dug mine out. Yes. thats true, Hobby Boss wins here because at 1/350, it's easier to fix. That also reinforces the old suspicion that the Banner/ Trumpeter/ Hobby Boss kit was pantographed up from the Revell kit.

The Trumpeter 1/200 kit is more accurate in every way than the Revell or Banner/ Trumpeter/ Hobby Boss kits. Not all the way around as good as the Dragon kit, but very good.

My suggestions here though all have to do with the idea of a first time ship modeler taking this on. It's fine, but as I said I'd recommend doing it because it costs $ 29,99 at Michaels minus whatever discount coupon you have, but form NO opinions about ship modeling from this. The OP Toshi has already shown that he's not averse to exchange coin for quality.

I really liked building the Trumpeter USS San Francisco. They really captured her lines in a magnificent way. The PE set went on fine, with no removal of any plastic.

Her sister, ne head of the class CA-32 was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Three of that class gave their lives at the battle of Savo Island on August 8, 1942, and the other two were heavily damaged fighting Japanese battleships at Guadalcanal.

They formed the gun line with their 8" rifles until battleships arrived again.

beautiful build..I have this kit stashed away..unfortunately no instructions...so It will probably stay stashed.

Here is my completed USS Arizona.  It's my first foray into a ship build hence forgive my mistakes.  It is completely OOB.  Thank you everyone for your time as well as your input.

OK Toshi very well done.

Paint the fuselage of the Seagulls silver.

If I were you I would take a fat tipped Sharpie and write something like "Toshi finished this on December 7, 2015. The 74th anniversary of the date this ship gave her all."

Grandkids will get it.

I'm going to paint the gulls silver right now.  As for your suggestion, that's a fantastic idea!  Thank you for the support, read and reply!

Nicely done, Toshi, and congratulations on your first ship model!

Yes, it's an old kit, though in its day, it was top of the line in plastic ship models.  It's also the ancestor of the Trumpeter-HobbyBoss kits, through either a licensing agreement or out-and-out copying on the part of the Peoples' Own Industrial Plastic Injection Molding Factory that preceded Trumpeter.  I have the HobbyBoss 1/700 scale kit on my bench, a stalled conversion to the Pennsylvania circa 1935.  When I first opened the box, I was taken back to 1972 and Revell's 1/720 version of this kit.  They issued the big one first, then pantographed it down to the smaller scale, for their 1/720 line of ship kits.

But the main thing is that you enjoyed building it, that's what it's all about.  And you exercised your modeling skills well and got a nice result out of an old kit that today's modelers look down on.

Nicely done!  I hope it has whet your appetite for more ship models, would you like maybe an aircraft carrier would be nice?

I want to thank you for the support you've given me on this build.  The answer is yes.  I did see a Academy USS Enterprise on the side At Hobby Lobby.  Maybe I will take your suggestion and go ahead with that particular project.

I ordered via eBay a Trumpeter visible SBD Dauntless from Shang Hai, China as my Christmas present, so the Enterprise seems like a terrific idea untill the Dauntless arrives.  That's a great idea, again, thanks for the tip!

Looks really good Toshi.  Welcome to ship modeling.  The Enterprise is another kit that expect flash and loose parts in the box.  But it too is a fun kit.  All the Revell kits are fun.  The Trumpeter Dauntless is a kit thats on my bucket list and that should be a fun build log to watch you do.

For those talking about the Trumpeter/Banner Arizona, here is mine (1/350) done up in the post modernization 1930's attire.  Gold Medal PE and WEM planes.  This kit was a real knuckle buster in how the towers went together.  The seams on the bridge and observation decks needed a lot of filler and tons of filing and sanding.

Beautiful, Scott. That's what I hope mine looks like.

Toshi- this reminds me- the Seagulls are actually light gray fuselage, not silver. Cowling is red, if you are so inclined. Actually it's more complex than that. If you are interested there's an aircraft color chart.

Mighty nice model - especially in view of how fast you finished it!

One bit of trivia about that old kit (from Dr. Thomas Graham's Remembering Revell Model Kits): it was used as part of the campaign to raise money for the Arizona Memorial, which opened in 1962 (four years after the kit's initial release).

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

Oh, WOW!  Your build is superb.  I really love the way you portrayed your build in a diorama.  It looks so real!  Thank you sir for the visit.

That's an interesting aspect of the Arizona Memorial that I've never heard of.  Thank you for your time and information.
