Tanker - Builder

Hi Bill ;

 She looks a lot like a LINDBERG " Shrimper" that's been modified .

    Bill,

     TankerBuilder has a good eye. The Shrimp boat does look quite a bit like your picture. The kits Bow is a bit "sharper" though. If the hull seems okay you might have something to work with. However, the Lindberg Shrimp boat measures 12.3".  At the stated scale of 1/60 she is a 61'6" footer OA.  But, since you want a larger scale of 1/48 to represent a 75’ 1930’s-40’s  net fishing boat, (with a Crows nest?), I can’t think of any curent plastic Hulls of 18 ¾” length that look like your prototype. The Lindberg 1/60 Tuna Clipper is only 14” long.

  TB, I believe you built the Revell Firefighter boat (prototype launched in1939?).  Do you think that hull might work? This is one kit I never looked into but I recall reading that the hull was 19” long.  If not too wide in the beam maybe it could work- If a kit can be found.

How long is the Lindy Shrimper?

Isn't it around 14" or so?

That would be a trim 56' at 1/48

Looking for a purse seiner model

I'm looking for a kit of a 30's to 40's era purse seiner, ideally about 75 feet or so long. I'd like to build a model at a larger scale like 1/48; 1/4" = 1'-0".

I suppose I could start from drawings, but it would be nice to at least have a hull.

Something like this:

I looked at Dumas, Model Expo and a couple of others. No luck so far.

Any leads most welcome!
