1/200 japanese battleship mikasa 1902

This is really nice.

We all know about the Revell, ex Pyro kits of the Olympia and the Maine (garbage kit).

In 1/235 ish.

I'm a huge proponent of metric scale, mostly because my life has been spent professionally designing things  in "inch to the foot" scale. Factors of 12, not 10.

Imagine a kit of USS Maine, the first one. She was 100 meters long.

1/150 would be 0.66 meters long, about 30 inches.

Nice model.

the only fault I can find with hobby boss , is the colour chart or lack of , one single piece of paper , then you work it out . 

 bill - I am australian , metric is a way of life for me . I am old enough to be able to convert , but it's a drag to do so . this model is about 700mm long , and going together nicely , not too many bad fit's .

I’m pulling a bear rug for this build! I have the Hasegawa 1/350 kit which is impresssive, but this one is VERY cool. Great start and I’m looking forward to following this WIP.

Although I don't really have room to display more large ships in my small abode, and, like Steve (docidle), I also have the Hasegawa 1/350 kit, I'll still enjoy riding along.

although this kit is 1/200 , it's still only a bit over 2 feet long . would love to see either of you guy's do the hasegawa kit , I hear it's very nice .

started on the PE , still not real confident with this stuff .

bit more work done , this join didn't look very strong , so I added a bit of .5mm rod

dry fitted the mast's guns and stack's

Your build is turning out great.  There is something nice looking about many of these old pre-dreadnoughts, and I especially like the 1902 paint scheme of your build.

thanks jlavender , back from a short break at the coast , managed to get the aft davits in and boats attached .

I love this painting of Adm. Togo at Tsushima. Your boat is painted as the Battle of the Yellow Sea 9 months earlier, but I think the sandbags are really cool, and you should model them.
