New kits
Posted by missileman2000 on Sunday, April 23, 2023 9:25 AM

Was at my LHS yesterday, and they had a bunch of 1:700 kits.  Don't know if they are new, or just a new shipment.  I think they were Tamiya, or else trumpeter.  One was the Jerimiah Obrian.  I built the 350 version and it was great kit.  What really struck me, however, was the price, 29 bucks each.  In these days of inflation, these seemed to be a bargain.

You 1/700 guys have always had it hard!  When I was a kid back in the late 1970s, I picked up a Hasegawa Kirishima for $14, a princely sum at the time.  And when I got home, I found out that "Waterline Series" meant half the ship was not included!  Crying

Still, a friend who almost exclusively builds 1/700 waterline kits has told me that there has been no better time than today for the genre.  Ships that have been long neglected are coming out as plastic kits, and newer versions of previously kitted subjects are appearing with much higher levels of detail.  It's a great time to be a modeler.

Hey There!

Good Monday Morning! I have found, like you, that a lot of new Floaty Thingies are coming in 1/700.  Although almost to tiny for my old eyes, I have found, like many, I can have more of them this way. And the newer stuff is amazing in the detail dept!
