Very impressive detailing work so far!
The etched brass .50 cal guns are particularly good. The standard Revell parts look a lot like the ones on the Vosper MTB I built last year - I wasn't sure what type of gun they were intended to be so I left them unmodified... it was my first large-scale ship/boat model so hopefully this is forgivable! When I build the Revell PT boat I'll probably use spare .50 cals from 1/72 aircraft or tank kits.

You are right, I posted a topic about the .50 Cal machine guns in the "armor" section of this forum, you can read the answers, some manufacturers produce them : Aires, Eduard and Aeroclub.  I was hoping, that they could be found in a box with WWII U.S. soldiers, but unfortunately there isn't one with .50 cal machine guns.

This, and the torpedoes in the Revell PT kits, they are too basic.

Speaking of the .50s... I had ordered a pair from Koster Aero Enterprises which are metal, not too bad & they look better than the revell ones. I'd ordered 1/48 for the B-17 & they turned out to be 1/72 so, might try and use them on my PT-109. I think they'll work...

Michel, I just received another Book on PTs.  "United States PT-Boats of WWII in action" by  Frank D. Johnson. This is mostly a historical account of PT Boats There's 10 pics of the 117 taken on 4 AUG 1942 when she was placed into service. It's in the 2-tone paint scheme tho. And they're in Black & white

Yeah, considering what a popular subject the PT boat is, there isn't much out there that is reasonable...would be nice if Revell re-tooled their kit, and added on the mortars, rocket tubes, and stuff to build different versions.

  well, I can wish, can't I ????

Thank you for the info, Ed.

BTW, in this GB, we did not talk about the H-R products to "upgun" our PT boats.

My PT Boat is moulded in greenShock [:O] Guess they use whatever's availableConfused [%-)] As for the PE set, sure, they're a bit pricey but, they do look fantastic & add so much to the kitTongue [:P] You'll also find that there were a number of PTs witht he 37mm on deck most popular was the 37mm from a P-39
