Unusual subject matter, thanks. But don't I see prominent sink marks on the bridge extensions? These details and large seams and unblacked gun muzzles should be attended to before attempts are made to weather, I think.

These rare ships need some good PE to really pop, not to mention more detailing from the kit manufacturer.

I think this kit was meant to be a cheap, motorized toy than a model, so it has very limited details and no decals or markings. I don't think the PE is available for this ship, and if available will cost much more than the ship itself. I'll relay your comments about the unblacked gun muzzles to the builder.

No offerst, but it just looks too... euh.... simple, its looks like the top of the boat isn't painted and weather, just bare plastic, nothing else, but else than that it looks good, I think.

You're right, T-rex, the weathering of this boat is not so consistent. Some parts look too new and some parts look too old. I don't much like this one but at least it's better than leaving it in the box. I'll tell Tuk to be more consistent from head to tail.

I built this kit (it's a Houjian-class missile boat) last year with a LOT of extra scratchbuilt detailing (mostly styrene stock and metal wire). Here's a photo:

Unfortunately it's painted in the wrong shade of grey Censored [censored] (the paint I used is more like US Haze Gray, it should be a more neutral, less bluish shade) but still looks good IMHO. For reference material I used various photos of the ship found on the Internet (search for "Houjian missile boat" on Google)

This kit is easily the worst of Trumpeter's range of large-scale Chinese ships - as you say, it's basically a motorised toy. Their 1/200 Chinese ships are vastly better, although still not as good as their more recent 1/200 Sovremenny.

Looks much better than the other but the color doesn't seems to be a big issue for me, ules if you really want the model to be accurate.

EPinniger, your ship looks much better with the details that you added. And you're right, it's Trumpeter's not Lee's. Yesterday Tuk delivered two new ships and a small tank which he finished in two weeks time. The ships are Trumperter's Chinese Haui Bei 1:350 and Mini Hobby's U.S.S. New Jersey in the same scale. With local made PE rails installed on both ships, they look much better than this 1:150 one. Coming soon on this channel...
