making canvas bags

Hello All,
I must not be using good search terms, because I have not found any instructions. I am wanting to try making some canvas-looking bags to go on armor. I have heard of people using toilet paper or paper towels, but I have not been able to find anything here or on youtube. Can anyone point me to some good instructions?
