Here's a short tip for those who need screen.

Okay;

           Now here's a thought. You need a fine metal looking screen for that Tank, Car, Aircraft or Ship. Where do you get it?

           I have known folks who buy that fine metallic ribbon that looks fairly useable. It works after a fashion. But you can still figure out where it came from.

           Okay so what do you do? Shell out a few bucks, Well, more than a few, for P.E. that has what you want. Don't get me wrong in ANY of my posts. I love P.E. I love the realism it brings to my models, especially the Card or Paper ones!

           There are times though where you only need the screen. So where do you get it! You go to the Coffee supply aisle in your favorite store. Where they sell the pots and supplies. They have about three or four Coffee baskets that have fine, extra fine or relatively normally finer than P.E. screen!

        Yes, the permanent baskets with Brass screen! If you need a lot of it, this is perfect, and cheaper than buying a whole set of P.E. for a project. There are many types of screening you can find that's hobby size in your Grocery and Kitchen supply store. Some real Cheap and some not so. It's your choice there!

          I come up with these tips because having to now live on a fixed budget, A P.E. Set is sometimes not in the running for supplies. So I search for other materials that will work. I bring them to you to show that there is no reason to find yourself saying, I can't finish this model because I can't pull the trigger for P.E. and I cannot find what I need. Yes! you can.

        All I ask is read these posts. This is coming from 72 years of experience I want to share before I can do so no longer.

I hadn't thought of coffee filters.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.
