Paasch VL vs. Iwata revolution
Posted by bspeed on Monday, September 1, 2008 12:57 PM

Anyone ever used both, that cares to comment on the difference in Feel/Control of the air/paint button ?

I have the Paasch, and have been practicing and today, painting an F105.  but I still get too much paint at times, becuase, I think, of the force needed to operate the button. I cant say I have a "good touch" in my fingers!

the Paasch is Siphon, and the Iwata is the Revolution HP-CR Gravity Feed model, which is about $70.

thanks much!

Big Smile [:D]

I've got both. I got the VL first and a Revolution later.

I've retired the VL to just spraying primer and Future.

Need I say more?

I've got and used both.  the VL is a better value as I find them to give similar performance,  The Iwata's a tad finer, but not enough to justify paying as much more for it as you'd have to.  Honestly, if these are the type guns your looking at I'd recommend the Badger 150 over either of them as it sprays a tighter line.  The Badger Anthem is the same as the Eclipse performance-wise, but the "old" 150 in a bottom feed gun for scale model finishing is better than all three of them (VL, eclipse, or anthem).

my bad B.  you asked about the revolution and I was thinking eclipse.  I do not have the revolution, but no it considered a big step down from the Eclipse in the Iwata line - so the VL would probably be abetter choice, but I'd still recommend you take alook at the 150 for this type of airbrush.

I have the VL, was wondering how much better other brushes were.

I also have a Badger 200-20, cant say I like it a whole lot, it seems to clog easier and dont care for the ergonomics of the adjustment at the back.   I just stuck a #1 needle, etc into the vl to try out.

to some degree, I wonder if the gravity feeds are the real ticket :)  ticket to exaclty what, I am not sure, lol.

I have owned both.  I retired the Paasche a few years ago & still use the Revolution, although my Badger 100LG is now my GO TO AB.  Performance of the VL & CR are about equal, but I find a gravity feed a little better for fine work.  The CR is easier to clean, which is a big plus for me.

Thanks, I will hang on to the paasch, and save my $ for now.

still getting to know the badger 200-20.   I have to have a single action, as I have not gotten god enough with the double action to risk a more "important" model.

Hey B

I have the 200-20.  it's a single action detail gun.  those two things don't go together to well.  you clog more in detail and with single action it's harder to clear a clog and get spraying again.  I'd have hard time using the 200-20 as a gauge to compare dual action guns.

I discovered last night - after spraying - that I had 2 clogged holes (out of 3), and a small mass of gunk, in the section between the tip and body.  I think it may have been there from the 1st time I used it!!

I cleaned it in acetone, followed by a bath in hot hot water and purple power. looking forward to better performance.

last night was lots of fun, btw....putting down decanted krylon gloss black on my esci tu22 Blinder. somewhat large model.
