I went and really goofed up - Aztek Question
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, January 28, 2005 9:58 AM
Well, I picked up a 470 on Ebay, pretty cheap awhile back. I have used it a couple of times, and like it well enough. Anyway, I took it apart. Not because there was a problem, but because I take stuff apart to see how they work. I can get it back together well enough, but now I discovered I have lost a part to the assembly. It's the little red do hickie that goes into the foremost assembly. It has a small steel pin sticking out from it.

SOOOO, is there anyone that knows of a place that I can order this part, or if someone out there that may have a defunct Aztek that they would like to sell and/or part out, I would be so greatful.

I am a bonehead, I should not have taken it apart. I think it's some sort of mental illness or compulsion or something.Big Smile [:D]

Thanks in advance,

Ted

Although I have never taken my Aztek apart, I think that know waht piece you are referring to from an Aztek disassembly tutorial that a French model builder has posted. It sounds like the piece that actually pushes the tip's needle in and out. From the photos, it seems like you could probably scratch build a replacement from some brass rod and sheet styrene. Getting the exact dimensions would be a bit tedious, trial and error, but the part doesn't seem complicated.

Do you still have that web site. I remember it as well, but can't seem to find it. Thanks for you input.

Testors told me I am SOL for taking it apart. So it's either fix the part or trash can the whole thing.

Thanks,

Ted

Thanks, I am gonna need some luck. The lady from Testors said I created an internal leak that could not be fixed. Any Idea as to why?
