Badger 360 or Sotar 20/20 Your Opinion Please

The Sotar is primarily an illustration airbrush. I don't know how much luck you'd have getting model paints to flow through it since it's mainly used for inks which have much smaller pigment size than paint. I've never used one so I can't say for sure though.

From what I understand the 360 is a good all-around airbrush although the paint cup is somewhat small. It would probably do anything you want on a model.

I have 4 airbrushes and of them I primarily use two; a Thayer and Chandler (Badger) 4000 and a Badger 100LG.

The Sotar will work fine just make sure you use the med. or large size nozzle and tip. The big negative for the sotar is the head assembly has many small delicate parts that are easily lost and expensive to replace. I would recommend the 100lg or 100g with medium tips for modeling. The 360 is versilte and a simple head/nozzle design makes cleaning easy. The nozzle is a bit on the large side which make for easier spraying of paint but can't give you the detail that a Sotar or 100 series can.

The 360 is a all around good airbrush that is easy to maintain and very easy to clean. The color cup is a little on the small side but when using it as gravity feed I normally don't need much paint... the brush is also excellent at siphon feed also.. the 360 is mostly the same as the 155 with the exception that it can go into gravity feed mode.

I personally think its an excellent brush.... though someday I am thinking of adding a 20/20 or some such to my toolbox just because........lol.. .

well I was gonna add my 2 cents but looks like you chose...

I was just going to add I have the 155 which is the sister brush to the 360 and LOVE it! I am ordering an Iwata HP-Cs for detail work (german squiggle camo etc..) but the 155 does anything else I want it to... I imagine the 360 could do even more having the gravity fed option.

The 155 was a very good purchase for me and had the 360 been out then I would probably get that instead...

I have a 360 and its good for modeling. The sotar is not for modeling tho properly thinned paint (thinned to like water) could be used to paint minor details. The Omni 4000G is a great ab for modeling, prolly better then the 100 (come on boyz show me what ya got!!! ). The 360 is the better choice for modeling outta the 2 choices you gave... but the 4000 is the better (imho).

If I remember right the paint was dark gull gray. I used it because it's what I already had in my Omni for spraying something on my A-10. I didn't try to "Optimize" anything, and just wanted to see what I could expect when comparing the two brushes. Also, it had been a long lousy day filled with too much coffee and too many smokes

the badger 360 wins hands down , I have only been airbrushing for 3 months and the results are great.

Also remember that the Sotar also atomizes the paint better.
For all around use I would go with the 360, Omni 4000 or Badher 100LG.
If you want a specialty airbrush for intricate work then go with the Sotar.
After all Sotar does stand for: (S)tate (O)f (T)he (A)rt (R)esults.

hehe Music... did you loosen the head on it first
