Airbrush Question

If you just need an airbrush for large spraywork, get the $20 set with a can of air. it is a lot cheaper than the Mighty Mini set, but will easily get the job done. You can get a nicer airbrush and compressor combo in the future. I paint in my dads barn and he has a compressor.

Also see if you can talk your dad into buying a compressor, then spend your money on a nice airbrush. If your dad works on cars (besides the basic oil change, etc.), then he probably already has one, or has been wanting to buy one.

Kyle - it would handle Future and most paints just fine... If I remember right the AB is mostly plastic so I would be wary of lacquer based paints without testing it first... AlcladII is lacquer based so I would be careful... For 32.99 you can get the Paasche H complete with hose and bottle etc.. from www.dixieart.com or you can go a step higher for $41.99 and get the Badger 200G, you would have to buy the hose for about $14.00 more for that one though...

and for about $65.00 you can get a reliable (yet a little noisy) compressor from Lowe's and Wal Mart... Those would do exactly what you want and more... then if you decide to get a better airbrush in the future you already have a suitable compressor!

If this is out of your budget right now then the one you saw would work, but I think you would be happier with the Paasche or Badger in the long run, and it would last you awhile longer before you felt like upgrading...

P.S. where abouts in SW LA are ya from? all my kin are from New Iberia and Broussard area (I am a Broussard on my Mom's side) Lived all my life on the border there near Port Arthur before moving here... Good luck to you! It just grazed us and the damage here was enough for me!

You will need also additional moisture trap, regulator, adapter. Consider pulsation matter that appear and inconsistency of pressure from compressor itself. Also even you add moisture trap, sometimes water still coming out from that plastic airbrush if adapter getting hot. The tip of a/b need more effort to clean out or clogging problem will stop your fun of brushing. That my experience.

tho9900, I'm from Lake Charles, but I've been in Dallas for the last two weeks, since just before Rita hit. Power should be back on at my house in the next couple of days, and we're heading back on Saturday (10/08), but if the cable isn't up and running I won't have access to the net. Luckily nothing hit the house, which is saying something since we lost about 25 trees right around us. I tell you, there's nothing quite like seeing a 50 foot oak, in one piece, laying on the ground with the root system ripped out of the ground. Root ball twelve feet tall.

Impressive.

I don't know if you guys have A.C. Moore down south, but they have terriffic 50% off sales where you get a ticket good for anything in the store- I am getting a Badger bursh combo that comes with cans, hose, needles, and a double action airbrush for $45. I am also getting the Testors blue compressor for $50- you can get both on the same day by checking out then walking back in and checking out again.
