Moisture when airbrushing
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, October 8, 2005 2:13 PM
Hey guys,

I am having some trouble here. When I spray I get water along with my paint. I have already emptied my moisture trap, so what's the problem?? Confused [%-)]

You are either getting moisture in the hose or your moisture trap isn't working properly. The trap should be as close to the end of the line as possible. If not air can still collect in the hose and cause a problem.

First, if your compressor has a tank make sure you keep the tank drained to eliminate that source of moisture. Also keep your moisture trap emptied. Second, if you have a long hose between your compressor and airbrush I'd look at moving the moisture trap or adding a second one. I have my compressor on the far side of my basement from my bench and a 50' hose crossing the basement. I have a trap/regulator on the compressor and a second trap/regulator at my bench. If you don't have a long hose between the compressor and airbrush you might consider adding an inline trap near the end of the hose, something like the trap near the bottom of this page: http://www.badgerairbrush.com/access2.htm To install that you will, of course, have to cut your hose.
