Compressor recommendation...

What are you looking for in a compressor? silence? versatility(can be used for more than airbrushing)? need an air tank? price range?

I just bought a garage style compressor. It's noisy as hell but was under $100 CDN at Home Depot. The local Rona is selling a Campbell and Hausfeld 2 gallon compressor and nailgun for $98. It will also be noisy, but what a deal. You can use it to pump up car tires and such. I parked mine outside in a box and can barely hear it inside the house.

I have an ancient 1/15 HP airbrush compressor I'm no longer using, barely spits out 25 psi. You can have it, but it wouldn't be worth the shipping cost! Know anybody driving through Kelowna in the next little while?

Geez...that's a tall order. "Silence" and "Cost" or diametrically opposed to each other in the airbrush compressor world. (Decent...well, that all depends on your perspective.)

I'm with Bgrigg...I have a Craftsman garage compressor w/2 gal tank. It's loud, but I have it placed where it doesn't matter. It's was cheap too...less than $100 USD

As far as silence, the compressor I use cant be beat. It is an iwata silent compressor- don't rememebr which mdoel exactly. It works GREAT and is extremely silent and has a built in regulator and moisture trap. Downside is, it'll run you around 300$.  I highly reccomend it though!

If you dont mind to much about the noise, go for a regular compressor from home depot they are only about 100$, have a good size tank and they are just as effective as one designed for modeling.

Looks good, just make sure to take care of it, keep oil level high and dont let it overheat. You should also pick up a moisture trap to avoid messy paint jobs.
