Served with C 2/7 in Vietnam 1968 - 1969. Swore I would never put on another uniform as long as I lived and wound up spending the next 30 years with the Fire Department - go figure! Retired as an Inspector. Married with five kids and a sack full of grand-kids. Now I paint and pursue my hobbies of collecting ancient coins, meteorites, and exotic butterflies (yes, butterflies, I think it's the artist in me, I like the colors and the far off places they're from).
I want to get back into my old hobby of models now that I have the time. Vietnam era models is what I plan to build. I saw all sorts of helicopters, Hueys, Cobras, Chinooks, Loach, Cranes as well as 105's, 155's, 175's and 8-inch SPG. We even operated at times guarding tanks (now that was a hoot, Infantry walking along with tanks), APC's, Quad 50's and the lowly Mule. The mule wasn't used in our unit as a Recoiless Rifle platform but as a supply carrier ferrying sundries and ammo to chopper pad as well as troops on perimeter guard duty. The jets saved our fannies more than once. F-4's, F-100's plus other fixed wing aircraft such as Caribous, C-130's and a small twin boom spotter aircraft.
