After leaving school at 16 after an uninspiring 5th year I served in the Royal Navy as a radio operator for 10 years, first seeing sea service in the Falklands War, ship escort during the Iran - Iraq war and various postings from Hong Kong to Rosyth. When I left I was determined that I was going to get a good job, settle down and never go back to sea. However, I ended up going back after the most boring 8 months ashore in my life. I've been in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary since 1992, first as a Communications Rating and for the last 8 years as a Ships Communications Officer. I've just come back to modelling after quite a period away and have developed an interest in ships where before I used to build mainly armour and the occasional aircraft. I also play a bit of guitar when I'm not building kits or going to the cinema.
