As a boy, I built many plastic model sailing ships ships (mostly small Revell models) but returned to the hobby in my "declining" years. My most recent projects are two iterations of the Revell 1/96 Constitution, one as that ship ca. 1812 and the other as the USS President, ca. 1805. (The latter is actually a rebuild of my first attempt at the Constitution, ca. 1965.) Both of these part-time projects took several years to finish. Still waiting--should I live so long!--are a rebuild of the CSS Alabama and Heller's HMS Victory. Before them, however, I plan to complete the trio of US 44s by building Revell's flawed but interesting model of the United States. So far, I'm still wondering what to do about that awful stern!
As for personal information, I am a retired archivist for the State of Alabama and live with my wife Paula in Montgomery. We have two grown children and a beautiful, two-year-old granddaughter. My other hobby is writing Sherlock Holmes pastiches, several of which have been published by MX Publishing in London and are available on Amazon.
