When I was 8 years old I visited my olders sisters high school libary where they had some aircraft models suspended from the ceiling. I was fascinated and with mum's help, I convinced dad to buy my first model for me. Modeling was my hold on sanity through my teenage years (though others say I was obsessed). I built only aircraft as I had a burning desire to fly. I got married at 23 yrs, kids came along and I learnt to fly. The cost of flying lessons drained any excess cash (plus a lot that wasn't excess) and modeling stopped. I had made over 400 models when I stopped. I got started again when my youngest daughter bought me the Revell 1/32 Tornado kit for my 40th birthday. To me it was a wonderful restart to a special part of my life. Since then I have developed the common problem of where to store the unbuilt kits and how to display the completed kits.
