Well hello new friends! I feel kinda silly because I pretty much posted this on the airbrushing forum page before I realized what I was doing. So I'll do it again here, where it is supposed to be.
I'm a former truck driver, machine operator,warehouse-dock worker, furniture salesman,,,ect,,,ect,,,ect... Now I sell auto parts, commercial and retail. Finally some time to build!!!
I have recently returned to modeling after a very long time away, (about 15 years or so). It's well past time to get back at it. I loved to build models and I was pretty good at it too! So much has changed and there is so much new technology in the hobby.... Add to that aftermarket parts? It's fantastic!! Scratch building is now a choice, not a necessity. (Although scratch building is very satisfying). With all of the new techniques there is much to learn and I hope to make many new friends here, so we can share ideas, inspire each other and keep this hobby as thrilling as it was when we all first started.
My main interest is cars and trucks in 1/25th scale but I love building and it doesn't really matter what it is. I am currently working on a 1964 Cadillac convertible, it's a restoration of a kit I built when I was about 20. (I'm 56 now). It's completely dis-assembled and stripped. The undercarriage is done and detailed, the body is in primer and I'm trying to decide what color to paint it. I'm working on the engine now, it's actually going quite well! (better than I expected). The car was purple,,, I think I'm over that!! We'll see.
Next up? I have an unopened 20-ish year old Monogram B17G Flying Fortress that's calling me, I'll have to find some new decals for it, I'm sure the originals are wasted by now. Maybe I'll make my own, if I can get some info on what program best reproduces them. I have some Testors decal paper, I just need help with the computer program. Anyway, That's long winded enough. Thanks for checking this post and I'll be pleased to be part of this community! I promise not to paint the Fortress purple...... Bye for now..............Mike
