I'm from a small town in Kansas, and as you can see from my profile pic, an avid Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. I just recently began making models again. I enjoyed making models as a kid, and continued up until I turned 16, and that's when I became more interested in other things I suppose. Over the years I often thought of modeling, but as stores quit carrying kits, and hobby shops were few and far between, i was fortunate to obtain employment in a position that resulted in me working with a supervisor my same age, but that unlike me, continued with his love of building models.
He has won many awards and trophy's at modeling contests here in Kansas, and recently made a model of the Hubble Space Telescope for me, but before giving it to me he entered it in a show in Wichita last Fall, and won 1st place in the Space category. He also mentioned FSM to me. I never new there was a modeling magazine out there, but have since subscribed. So between him, FSM, a 1983 Monogram 1/48 Delta Dart found at a nearby Goodwill for $2, and the internet, I'm finally back to doing something that I once loved, and am enjoying it even more than ever.
I'm currently on hold with the Delta Dart because I started work on a PM AT-11 that I ordered to make for my neighbor. He is 95 years old, and was Tech Sergeant at Victorville, CA Army Air Force Pilot and Bombardier Training Base from it's opening in 1942, until December 1945 when it was closed. He was one of the first in, and one of the last to leave, after what he refers to as "pickling" the B29's that were brought in at the end of the war.
