My name is Anthony D'Agostino, I am a disabled American veteran living in the Philippines. I have been wanting to start modeling again for a long time, but due to our decision to rescue cats, have been unable to build. Recently, we were forced to move to a new home on very short notice, this has also forced us to stop rescuing, as we can no longer keep the cats indoors. This has freed up space and money to finally enjoy life again, as living in a house full of cats is very taxing.
Anyway, I am trying to build again, but I also have to relearn everything all over again, since the methods and materials have changed drastically since my last build in the 80's. New paints, tools, glues and techniques are all part of the process that I must learn to be a proficient model builder.
A few difficulties that I face, are lack of modeling support in the Philippines, and the high cost of buying kits via eBay, which is one of only a few options I have, at least for now.
My primary focus will be on modern US military hardware, those machines I specialized in as a Cavalry Scout, and those I worked along side or flew in. I have a dream of a giant diorama, but I have never built one before, so it will be a long, ongoing project for me, as I learn new skills along the way.
I hope that I can find the money, the time, the kits and the skills to eventually reach my goal of the diorama, it will be fun to create such a scene, even if it can be shown once or twice over the years as it is improved over time.
Wish me luck in my endeavors, and to all those who served their country, no matter what uniform you wore, I thank you for your service and sacrifice.
Happy building everyone!
