Tim Boyd is a world-recognized authority on model cars and model car kits. After many wins at the regional and national level in the MPC National Model Car Championship (1969-1979), he began a writing career that now includes over 500 published articles in over 30 magazine titles worldwide.
He was Scale Auto magazine's most prolific writer, contributing over 300 articles and columns over the 41 year lifespan of that magazine (1979-2020). He also authored the monthly "Modeler's Corner" column in Street Rodder magazine (1978-1995).
He has written three books (Collecting Model Car and Truck Kits, 2001; Collecting Muscle Car Model Kits, 2018; and Collecting Drag Racing Model Car Kits, 2020), and he was elected to the Scale Auto magazine Hall of Fame in 2001.
Professionally, Tim is retired from a 35 year career at Ford Motor Company, where his assignments included leading Ford's SVT performance sub-brand (1995-1998) and Director, Global Design Strategic Concepts Group (2008-2013) which included responsibility for Ford's three Advanced Design Studios in London, Shanghai, and Irvine, California.
