I have been scale modeling since I was in Junior High, back in the 70's. Started out in 1/72 scale since there was so much variety. Joined the Navy as a Machinist Mate in the early 80's and after one cruise I figured that was enough, so got out after six years. Moved to Arizona and ultimately obtained a job as a Utility Systems Operator for a major healthcare system. Got married and had kids too. Switched to 1/48 scale in the early 90's and even did some commission work but that made the hobby a job. Late 90's I joined the USNR as a Seabee and over the past 15 years deployed many, many times! So the hobby went to the wayside and now that I retired from the Reserves I have more time and a renewed interest. I've been lurking on this site and others for years, mostly looking for tips and interesting conversations. I now work as a Project Manager for construction projects in the real world. Mostly I build 1/48 aircraft, especially Century Series and anything that catches my eye. I did a lot of German WWII armor in 1/35 but I'm bored with that now so I switched to US armor, especially since my little son joined the Army. I still tinker with the German stuff though once in a while. And speaking of eyes, my eyesight isn't what it used to be! I'm sure I'll eventually have to quit building when I can't see what I'm doing but for now I'm going to crank out my best work.
