I'm in my 50's and did several models as a teen in the early 70's. Around 1971, when I saw my first Tamiya model at the local Woolworth's, I thought I was in heaven. I loved WWII movies and spent hours in the backyard with friends playing "War". Then in my early teens my buddy and I would compare modeling builds. But as time went on we spent more and more time chasing girls.
College, marriage and family came along. I made several attempts over the years to jump back into modeling, never completing any projects. Through the years I subscribed to Scale Modeler, Military Modeler and finally FSM magazines, always being inspired......but at the same time intimidated by the skill and perfection I witnessed in these magazines.
So here am with a closet full of models (mostly Armour), empty nest and a son in the Navy on the USS Cole. Inspiration struck to build the USS Cole. I'm retraining and relearning the hobby. I'm also inspired to soon build a model of the ship my late father served on in the Pacific.......LSM 441.
