This is near the top of my "to do" list for 2012 as well.  Are you going to switch the drive sprocket and idler as per the diagrams?  And I'm sure you have seen, there are many features that appear and disappear from issue to issue. I think it'll be a lot of fun -- the pseudo T-34/Panther/M41 hybrid.

Same here, I intend to use an old Revell 1/40 scale T-34 hull as a base.

I'm not 100% sure which T-34 base tank I will use yet.. and not sure about changing the drive wheels either.. I have all the comic books in the series from when they made the Jigsaw tank , untill they lost her.. so I plan on reviewing them again( for fun ) and to pick which details to portray in my build.

the gun muzzle changes often..

the drivers and bow machine gunner's hull hatches... appear and disapear...

the barrel length changes..

so.. I;'m going to research more.. and pick my features...

I am completely unfamiliar with this comic book series. Building their own "jigsaw" tank type story sounds interesting, I'll be checkin this thread out

But who can complain right? These were comic books, and not shop drawings.  All the more for the aspiring "Jigsaw Tank" builder to fiddle with.  The craziest thing is to settle on the eventual shape of the turret.  In some issues, it defies any known laws of physics -- almost an Escher drawing.

BTW: I recommend scratchbuilding the turret, not just dropping the Tamiya M41.  Also note the shortened hull (count the roadwheels) as opposed to an actual T-34.

(As you can tell, I've examined this project in some detail ... LOL )

There is no question it will be fun following your build.  I have taken the first row of the seat in your theater!  Sgt Rock and Haunted Tank were my favorite comic books when I grew up in early late 70's and 80's.  Great memories...

By any chance you are planning to include Sgt Rock figure too to this build?   It shouldn't be that hard, just rip the sleeves, build bigger arm muscles and wrap ammo belts around his neck.

Boy, it sounds like fun!  I recall seeing a shirtless US soldier somewhere... maybe it would be easier to start from there and add sleeveless shirt and ammo belts.  I will let you know if I see it again...

   Herr Field Marshall..  Its pretty close.. the main diff from the this "spec" and what we've read ,, is it has more than 4 road wheels( although they keep changing )... the turret sits more forward on the hull...I still have ALL my comics from my younger years.. and have all the issues from the Stuart to the end of the Jigsaw tank...(and untill the series was canceled)

 I'll scan some inside the mag pics for ya all to reminisce over later..

Manny...I'm going to pull out of my colllection all the ones with the Jigsaw tank in it and review it.. starting with issue #150 ... Death of a Tank..  I'll capture some scans for posting...

Been watching this the last few days and though I've never read the comics this looks cool as .

P38: I've got a bare chest and arms from Velinden's US Marines conversion set which are nicely molded but a little beefy - more like 1/32nd scale almost. If you can use them for Sgt. Rock send me a note. I doubt I'll ever use them.
