Well.. did a bit more last night.. assembled all the road wheels.. and drive wheels,, idlers..Since this will be a junkyard tank,, I'm going to mix n max the road wheels..The white-gray wheels are the ones from the front page, some are steel, some are rubber ..The kit has steel and rubber also, but with differant centers.. the aftermarket wheels, while fitting the shaft, didn't come with the center caps( bearing covers ).. so to use the Tamiya kit ones, I had to drill out the centers to accomodate the tamiya caps. A 3/16 bit and carefull drilling.. I will have to shorten the axle shafts a tad also..

here's a few pics.. Photobucket:550:0]

Not sure yet on the final config for the road wheels.. going to mix n match...see what looks "junky", maybe drill out a few lug nuts.. etc..Surprise

thanks guys,, its coming along good.. and its being very fun... Yes

Left to do.. : 2nd hull hatch,  screens and grills for engine vents, ( had to shorten the hull top so making these will be a challenge, the PE set has a very intricate set up for these... ) , tracks.. , tools.. stowage,,tool boxes..and then the boys,,. JEB, Rick, Arch, Slim.. Gus was later, after Arch was killed.. oh.,, and JEB's .50cal gun mount ring around his commander's hatch..

All it's missing is a zombie Tank Commander. I know an undead Field Marshall who could hook you up with one...

I hear Manny was the inspiration for the AMC hit series "The Walking Dead".

Holy smokes, P38J!!  Wow! I know you mentioned this a while ago.....great progress; really starting to look the part.  Thanks for solving the Gus mystery....he was the African-American that the guys picked up on the way....I forgot that Arch died.  Like most of the guys, this is a trip down memory lane.  So cool to see your scans of the actual comic books.  Too bad the artists couldn't come up with a "definitive" Jigsaw to portray.....

Does anyone remember "Johnnie Red Cloud?"  I think he was an Apache(?) fighter pilot.... I remember one cover where he is being shot down in his P-51D with a Me109?  coming in for the kill.....he's standing partially on the wing and returning fire with his .45.....the last great act of defiance, comic style.....such memories!!!

2022 New Year's Resolution:  Enter 1 group build and COMPLETE a build this year!!  Why Photobucket did you rob me of my one Group Build Badge???  Must be part of the strong anti-Monogram cartel!!!

Great work there! She's really coming together with all the tiny details.

Funny, you got me thinking of the 'Weird War II' role-playing game from about a decade ago. It was mostly based off the 'Weird War' comic but had some stuff from others as well. The game had a simple war-gaming system with rules for creating your own 'haunted tank' using the stats from the hundred or more vehicles they listed.

Hurry up and finish it so we can nitpick it and point out all the errors! LOL, just kidding!

It looks great, what are you going to use for the 20mm hull gun? I like the way it looks like you emptied the parts box to assemble it; like you used an actual model kit junkyard.

I loved those old Weird War tales too. I wish I had kept a few of them even though they were well read and had torn covers.

DId a bit more work last night... took the road wheels and dinged them up a bit.. and drilled out some of the bolt holes to represent broken bolts from changing the wheels out in the junkyard.. no time to drill and tap new ones...

the rubber road wheels I touched my dremel tool with a grinder bit to show some rubber missing.. the steel wheels got some hot metal objects ( i varied the tool used ) to show dents and dings..

some are hard to see...Photobucket:550:0]
