A Modest Proposition
Posted by mg.mikael on Saturday, October 18, 2008 7:52 PM

First of all, I'd just like to say I love this site and this FANTASTIC forum that FSM runs. Keep up the great work!Thumbs Up [tup]Bow [bow]Thumbs Up [tup]

Now for my proposition, start a section where modelers can post what they bought recently and thus ask questions about wether or not it was a good deal. A place to tell other members about a sweet deal they got on a kit, and/or talk about a kit that they found in a remarkable place at a remarkable price. Basically a forum section to share with other modelers what they bought recently, the price, if it was sale and how other folks can get the kit at a good price.

What I'm proposing isn't a forum section for buying and selling models, but a forum where people share their recent purchases/sweet deals with the community.

Thanks for reading and at least considering my proposition.Smile [:)]

Well, I guess that was a bad idea, no replies at all.

Hi Cameron,

Sorry about the delayed response.

We'd love to follow through on your suggestion. But ... if Forum space was reserved to talk about purchases, it'd almost certainly be abused/manipulated/etc. by advertisers. In short, it's a gray area that we don't want to step into.

Thanks, though, for your idea.

Sorry about that – it appears I mistook you for a fictional character. :)

I understand also where FSM is coming from on their decision.  Too bad.  We could have called it The Kit Bashing Forum.  No advertiser would want to go there.Laugh [(-D]

Don't we do this already in respective forums? I have seen plenty of times where someone has made a post about a new kit they bought or wanted to ask questions or advice about one.

But hey it was worth an ask mg.mikael, i was only thinking about something similar the other day, although more along the lines of swap meet type forum. But i figured that it would cause all sorts of trouble! Though sometimes we do a bit of swapping  on respective forums anyway.

Honestly, that would be a great way to invite trolls.

Several notorious ones are company shills who are completely without tact or mercy.
