Ignore button
Posted by ajlafleche on Saturday, January 10, 2009 3:32 PM
In most other forums, there is an ignore option so the user doesn't have to be bothered by posters he/she finds particularly bothersome. Am I missing that here? If not, how about enabling that? All the multiple posts about trolls would go away.

I kind of like the idea. However, aren't Trolls and people who just happen to annoy a person, two different things?

Yes, but both can be dealt with the same way.

That is a great idea.  How about it, Kelly?  Can we have an 'Ignore' button??

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the recommendation. I ran it by one of our programmers. He said:

"Community server does not currently support user-gnore features."

Sorry.

It was one of the neat features I pushed for at Armorama. It comes in handy.

WOW, really? An "ignore" button?

You mean they can't post on your thread? Or they can't PM you?

Hmm..I could see that getting potentially abusive? Especially if someone winds up forming "alliances" and all of them "ignoring" someone they don't like for the silliest of reasons, like...someone's signature line?

How does/would that work? Why not just ignore the person without a button?

I think it's a bad idea--a way to introduce resentment between members, IMO.

It means their posts become invisible to you. For example, if you had Al on ignore, you would not see his posts, but others could still read them and if they quoted him, you would see them then. It would be (to you only) that his posts above were never made.

Unless you specifically made the comment that you were now ignoring Al, he would not be aware of it at all nor would anyone else.
