After all, just look at the complaints that pop up on here regularly from site members regarding this or that online store or model company regarding purchases gone sideways. It would certainly lead to bad blood on the forums between members.

Which is in fact the VERY BEST reason not to have a sale section on this site!

Who wants 'em?!

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

If you've ever done business with eBay and have had the misfortune to run into some of the unethical, whiny, cheating, malicious sellers AND buyers on there, you would think twice about using an online site to sell anything that didn't have a protection plan for fraud or attempted extortion. Believe me, the stories I can tell....Devil

Nathan T

They don't have one because this is a modeling forum, not a swap shop. That's what EBay and Amazon are for...

I am glad they don't have one as well. It could cause all sorts of issues and I guess the mag just don't want to be involved in other peoples disputes.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I'm with FSM with not allowing a "For Sale" thread on this site, It's their site and they make the rules. Besides, I have seen and heard my fair share of dishonest sellers elsewhere screwing folks out of stuff.

If you want to buy or sell models, there's always ebay.

It certainly isn't something I miss. If you put a little effort in, its really simple to backchannel stuff. I do it on occasion.

Mississippivol and fly-n-hi: Sure - I know it is a for profit magazine and online site, but I can name several others that have created FOR SALE areas that allow members to sell. These are strictly personal and not used by commercial businesses. I don't see allowing a FOR SALE area as a black and white issue. Maybe it would make FSM and particularly it's online site more valuable. Obviously it is FSM's decision. All the best, Dan

Yeah, to add to that...

The "for sale" areas are the advertisements you see on the sides of the screen.

Hi, Dan. Quick answer is that FSM is a for - profit magazine that earns revenue from advertising. As such, they probably feel that allowing a "for sale" area for free would undercut their revenue, which is understandable.

I can't find a "For Sale" forum area allowing subscribers/viewers to post items for personal sales.  Have I missed it?  Or is there a reason why you don't have one?

All the best,

Dan
