Tutorial: How to insert links in a post

How to Post Links:

You could just copy the URL of the website you wish to link to and paste into the "body" of the post window. I use "Ctrl-c" to copy and "Ctrl-v" to paste. You can hold the "Ctrl" key down with your pinkie finger of the left hand and use your index finger for the "c" and "v". You have to keep holding down the "Ctrl" key while pecking the other keys. You end up with this:

You could just leave it like that. Interested people can copy and paste that into the address bar of their browser, but it's better to make it a "hot" link, so people can just click on it. These instructions will show you how to do this quickly and easily.

You start by "highlighting" the URL. You can use left mouse click and hold while "swiping" the line", release when you have captured the line. Or you can hold the mouse cursor "over" the line and use multiple and fast clicks to select, it usually takes three clicks:

Then, while keeping the line highlighted, select the "insert/edit link" button found on the editing toolbar above the post window. Note that you MUST have the line highlighted first, or the button will not work!:

That opens the "insert/edit link" box, where you paste the exact same URL you did before. It also gives you the option to chose whether the link opens in the same window, or a new window. Not choosing selects same window by default, then select the "Insert" button at the lower left:

Title doesn't appear to do anything, or at least I haven't figured out what it does! Just ignore it! You have just created a "hot" link! Congratulations! See, that was pretty easy, wasn't it?

To make it a bit fancier, you can have the link work, without showing the address. This eliminates the part where you paste the URL into the post. You begin instead with typing the word or sentence that you want to use as the link and highlight as above:

Then open the insert link box as instructed above, and paste the URL as before. When you insert the link this time, only the word you've chosen will become "hot""

And that's all there is to it!
