Welcome to the forums Joe and welcome back to the hobby!
I use a Paasche VL airbrush but after long sessions, it isn't very comfortable and I find my hand will cramp a little bit, especially when doing tedious detail work. I have used, only for brief moments though, the Grex airbrush. It is build with a pistol-like grip and trigger assembly rather than the pencil style of air brush that I use. The grip allows for a more relaxed feel but it is something that I think would take me a while to get used to.
As far as a compressor is concerned, I use the D500SR from Paasche that I purchased as part of a package deal online. Its small, 1/8 HP, and is fairly quiet....won't wake the dead in other words. It does get pretty hot after some use though, so be careful there. Mine isn't fitted with a moisture trap, but I would highly recommend it.
I'm certainly no expert, and am not experienced with other airbrushes. The ones I've listed are the only two I've ever used. Others here may give you more insight!
Again, welcome back!
