Name the diorama displays

I don't know if you were looking at some of my displays or not, but here's how I do it.

I just print out a sign using Word and glue it to card stock. Trim and attach to the base.

I print mine off on card. I make the image on paint.net then save it and then put it into a word doc so I can make sure its the right size. For some reason, when I set the image size on paint, it comes out a bit smaller. Once its printed out, I then put some clear sticky plastic over it (the name escapes me at the moment) then stick it to a piece of balsa cut to size and stained the same as the edging. After that, put some holes in and I screw it to the base.

Just decide what you want on the name plate. I usually have a national flag and then some sort of insignia that relates to the subject with the aircraft/vehicle name in between along with unit details.

I need to start putting the nationalities flag on the sign. I keep forgetting that. 

I only started doing it last year. Before that I used rub off letters straight on the wood. But they were a real pain. I could never get them all straight and if I messed up I had to start over. And sometimes they were hard to see. But after seeing what others did on here I decided to switch to these.

I like the look of yours. But for some reason I can't get them right when I use word, so I do them on paint.

I never thought of using Paint. I figured out to use paint to get all my badges on me signature line, (whenever I display them again) so it should be easy enough to make a sign using it.

Also, after seeing yours, I need to come up with a way to stiffen mine up a tad. I like the plastic covering. It's a fine tuning process.

I do need to replace some of my earlier ones though.

I use the plastic more to protect the cardboard, but ye, it does stiffen it as well. I use the stuff used to cover maps, it come sin large rolls, but I still can't recall what we called it. Mine could go straight on the wood surround, but I like them to stand put a bit.

I don't know what fonts you use, but I found some you can download and work on paint. I now have a couple of German style fonts which I will now use instead of the old English and the F-16 is a USAF font and I also have a WW2 style USAAF one

I also like the division symbols you use. The SS, Africa Corps, USAF, Luftwaffe etc.

Thanks. I think it just adds a little more interest to the subject. It took a while to decide what to do for my modern USAF builds. I wanted something similar for all my modern US aircraft and when I found this, along with one for the Marine and the Navy, I decided to use those. For German armour not in Africa I just use a pretty basic Wehrmacht eagle in a shield as that was the most appropriate I could find. I have a couple for other I haven't used yet but I think I have a pretty god collection now that will cover all my builds.

Bish I really like the way you do yours with a flag or emblem in color, BTW there are some darn good looking models there between you and Steve.
